ASGS provides templates of the frontice section, text chapters, references, and appendixes of the thesis on 3 1/2 inch computer floppy disks. These templates contain the eight essential elements of style--
The templates allow you to write or import your thesis to formatted editorial styles on a personal computer, avoiding unnecessary problems with imperfectly learned and understood formatting styles. If your thesis draft is turned over to an editor or typist, having used a template disk can save you time and money in the preparation of your final manuscript.
At present, disks are available for Microsoft Word 5.1+ and Word 98 on Macintosh computers and Microsoft Word '97 for Windows 95 which works with all later Windows versions. Disks for selected MSDOS and other formats are usually available by special order. ASGS template disks are copyrighted; federal copyright laws prohibit duplicating and/or distributing copies of these disks.
Masters are available for a negotiated price per template. Each variation of editorial style, computer, or word processing program is considered a separate template. As an option, ASGS will customize these master disks to accommodate special style requirements of the institution. References from institutions who have used this service are available upon request.
